This is my first time experiencing the operation of cupping, traditional Chinese medicine is really amazing! “A community health worker from Ghana still couldn’t bear to leave after the seminar, and another doctor also sighed,” We really need this knowledge and medicine, which will greatly reduce the pain caused by diseases.

On October 31, 2025, the training seminar on the integration of traditional Chinese medicine in women’s health and gynecology, jointly organized by Tat Ka Wai Hong and the West African Health Community (HCOWA), was held in Ghana. Medical experts, herbal practitioners, and women’s health advocates jointly discussed the application of traditional Chinese medicine principles and herbal therapies in the prevention and treatment of gynecological diseases in Africa.

The seminar was kicked off by Dr. Sandra Ashan’s keynote speech on “Introduction to Traditional Chinese Medicine”. She vividly explained the holistic view of traditional Chinese medicine – the balance of yin and yang, the harmony of the five elements, and the circulation of qi and blood. These ancient wisdom aroused strong interest among the attendees. The attendees delved into how these ancient theories provide unique ideas for addressing common women’s health issues, such as menstrual disorders, infertility, menopausal syndrome, and chronic gynecological infections.

The key session of the meeting focused on the specific application of traditional Chinese medicine in the field of gynecology, with the “Ermiao Pill” produced by Tat Ka Wai Hong becoming the focus of discussion. Dr. Ashang explained in detail how this classic formula composed of Atractylodes macrocephala and Phellodendron amurense can effectively clear heat, dry dampness, stop bandaging, and relieve pain in the treatment of modern gynecological diseases. She pointed out, “Er Miao Wan has significant therapeutic effects on gynecological problems such as damp heat and dampness, pelvic inflammatory disease, etc. Modern research has also confirmed its anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, and endocrine regulatory effects.

The practical demonstration segment of the seminar pushed the atmosphere to a climax. Dr. Ashang showed the standardized operation of acupuncture and moxibustion, moxibustion, cupping and other Chinese medicine therapies. The participants learned how to combine traditional Chinese medicine diagnosis and treatment with modern diagnostic techniques through hands-on experience. A health worker exclaimed, “This interactive learning has truly helped us understand the overall health management philosophy of traditional Chinese medicine.
This seminar is not only about knowledge dissemination, but also an important step for Tat Ka Wai Hong’s strategic expansion in the West African market. Through deep cooperation with HCOWA, Tat Ka Wai Hong is gradually establishing a promotion platform for traditional Chinese medicine in West Africa.
Lin Qi, Deputy General Manager of Tat Ka Wai Hong International Business Unit, said, “We hope to promote traditional Chinese medicine culture through such professional training, and build a bridge to enter West Africa, so that our drugs can benefit more local people. We also hope to team up with more powerful traditional Chinese medicine enterprises to go global and jointly explore this promising market.

In his closing speech, Vice President of HCOWA, Prins Opku Dougebe, affirmed the value of this collaborative model: “By connecting traditional and modern healthcare systems through capacity building projects, our goal is to enable West African women to benefit from both the wisdom of ancient medicine and the advances of modern science.

With the enthusiastic exchange in the traditional Chinese medicine product exhibition area, the seminar came to a successful conclusion. The bridge of China Africa health cooperation built by Tat Ka Wai Hong indicates that more Chinese pharmaceutical companies will enter West Africa in an organized and systematic manner, bringing health and hope to more African women with the ancient wisdom of traditional Chinese medicine.
